A view from inside the crowded station of Umeda, Osaka. I had just stepped into the station and people were rushing towards the pedestrian crossing seen in this picture.

According to Wikipedia Umeda station has 550 000 passengers a day.

Osaka, Japan, 2008.

Wikipedia is making us wiser once again:

The first mascara product was invented by Eugene Rimmel in the 19th century. The word “rimmel” still means “mascara” in several languages .. The word mascara derives from the Italian maschera, which means “mask” from Middle Latin masca or Arabic Maskhara or from Old Occitan masco.

People walking past the O’Donoghue’s bar in Dublin, Ireland. Not the pub where The Dubliners started, even though the names look the same.

After a long day of photographing, everybody started getting a little tired. We were getting out from a subway and two of my friends started fooling around. I was able to capture them jumping and making noise just before the staircase ended and we got onto the street level. Osaka, Japan, 2008.

Seeing the other side of a metropolis from a water bus. The ride started from Osaka-jo and ended at Yodoyabashi, after carrying the passengers through the canals of Osaka. This man was standing on a bridge smiling and waving at the few people on the boat. Japan, 2008.

Footprints in the sand and how everything eventually perishes, that is. These people are probably Japanese tourists visiting the only desert in Japan, Tottori sakyū. They are facing towards the Sea of Japan which opens right in front them. These five people are sitting on top of a tall sand dune; down at the beach the sand’s full of filth and rubbish that has came floating from China. Or so the people say, at least.

It was just an ordinary evening in the middle of June. I had about half an hour of free time before I had to get back home and so decided to take  a little walk outside. I hadn’t got far when this old man came by with his bicycle. It was only a short encounter and a little conversation of exchanging two konbanwa’s but I luckily managed to include him in this scene during that moment. Tottori prefecture, Japan, 2008.

I visited an old Japanese garden with a friend of mine and my sister. We had matcha, thick green tea used for tea ceremony, and enjoyed the view outside while drinking. The building itself was also a traditional type of Japanese house and very beautiful. Interestingly the floors were not only ordinary tatami, but also partially covered with red fabric. The place is located somewhere in Kyoto.

Street photography in the city centre of Dublin. The Nokia advertisements were colourful enough to catch my attention and provided a nice background for these people.

The crypts of St. Michan’s Church in Dublin are the home for these mummified bodies. The one behind the three other coffins holds the body of an 800-year-old crusader. The hand of the crusader is slightly lifted in the air and it’s said that touching his finger brings good fortune. The others starting from left are (if I remember right) 600, 400 and 200 hundred years old. The vaults contain limestone that absorbs moisture. Because of that the air is dry and the conditions ideal for preservation.
